Daniel O'Mahony

Daniel O’Mahony is a Partner at Seroba Kernel Life Sciences Limited and brings a wealth of experience in product development, strategic planning, licensing, intellectual property management and commercialization across the pharma and biotech industry sectors and in venture capital and corporate investments. 

Daniel has been an advisor and consultant to Kernel Capital venture capital fund since 2001, focusing on investments in life sciences.  He joined Kernel Capital as Partner in 2008 and Seroba Kernel Life Sciences in 2009.  Daniel currently sits on the board of Apica Cardiovascular Ltd, Novate Medical Ltd, Scientific Systems Holdings Limited, Scientific Systems Research Limited, Straatum Processware Ltd and is a former board member of a number of companies.  He sits on the Irish government’s Innovation Task Force intellectual property strategy sub-group and the board of the HRB Clinical Research Facility, Galway.

Daniel previously worked in a variety of product development, business development, corporate venturing and asset divestment roles at Elan Corporation plc, Taro Pharmaceuticals Inc. and BSM Management Consultancy (Ireland).  In 2005 he established the Technology Transfer Office at the National University of Ireland, Galway.

Daniel graduated with a Ph.D. from the National University of Ireland, Cork in 1986 and holds a business degree in technology management from the Smurfit Business School, University College Dublin (2000).  He has held academic appointments at the Genetics Department, Trinity College, Dublin, the Weis Research Centre, Geisinger Clinic, Pennsylvania, USA and the Department of Medicine & Experimental Therapeutics at University College.  He has published in several scientific journals and is co-inventor on numerous patent families.
